Guide for Overwintering: How to store your traps during the off-season

As the chill sets in and winter approaches, it's time to prep your scoutlabs traps for a well-deserved break. While our traps are pros at pest detection during the growing season, they're not designed to brave the harsh winter conditions. But don't worry, with just a few simple steps, you’ll have them safely tucked away and ready for action when the warmer weather returns. Here’s your go-to guide for overwintering your traps!

Step 1: Collect all traps

Once the season wraps up, it’s time to bring in all your delta traps and mini devices. These guys aren’t made for winter exposure, so keeping them out could mean trouble. But don’t worry—it’s a quick and easy process.

Step 2: Store your traps flat to save on storage space

Make the most of your storage space by folding the traps flat. It’s a super-efficient way to store everything neatly without taking up much room. For the camera modules, store them separately in a safe place (just put them in a box).

To protect your traps and devices from moisture and freezing conditions, make sure they’re stored in a dry and secure spot. This will keep them in top shape for when it’s time to bring them back into action next season.

Step 3: Not really a step - just a reminder you don’t need to charge the batteries

Here’s one less thing to worry about—there’s no need to charge the USB batteries before putting your traps away for the season. Just leave them attached, and they’ll be good to go when it’s time to set things up again.

That’s it - you’re done! See you next season. 👋
